Is this really that complicated a thought? What I don’t understand is why this has troubled philosophers for decades when the answer is SCREAMING out to you. The purpose of life is to do nothing but glorify God.
“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever”- Romans 11:36
Problem is now this has been discovered, now the great life question has been answered, where to. Because unless this idea becomes practical in your everyday life, it becomes an airy fairy concept which has little relevance to you.
Firstly, the one needs to start at the motive behind doing everything. If motive is anything other than glorifying God, then is it glorifying God. Therefore, in my studies, and in my work, and in my relationships, what do I do? Study knowing that I am studying for God. Work knowing that I am working for God. Live knowing that this is what I was made to do, therefore I am living for God.
Essentially, without living for such a supreme awesome and wonderful cause, living is useless. Problem comes in with the sacrifice that has to be made. The problem is the sacrifice is you. Your life is not yours, but your life is His. Your talents are not yours, but are His. Your dreams are not yours but are His.
Jim Elliot put it like this:
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”
The gain far outweighs the cost.
Think about it…
Live it…
